How do I join the praise and worship (music) team? - Talk to Tim to be put into contact with the person who is in charge of it. We have different roles for people of different skill levels (from beginners to experts).
When should I get baptized? - When you are confident that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you want to live your life for him. It's as simple as that. Sometimes we feel there are other "requirements" like other people who appear to be more spiritual getting baptized, having our life together, or conquering a particular sin in our life, but all Jesus wants is someone who genuinely believes and trusts in him.
What do I need to do to get baptized? - The first step is for you to talk to your parents about it, and then to Tim.
- After that, there will be several things that you will do:
- Go through a baptism class and pass the baptism exam
- Complete an approved testimony of your Christian faith
- Have a baptism interview
- Go through instructions on the logistics of the baptism
Do I need a completed permission form for every youth group event? Can I scan and email it to you? - Yes, permission forms, including health insurance information, needs to be filled out each time for each event, so that
- we know your parents/guardian is aware that you are going to such an activity, and have a legal record of if, and
- we have the most up to date health, medical, and emergency contact info, in case anything happens
- There may be times when you may scan and send in by email the permission forms to sign up for an activity, but we will still need the physical form with the signature handed in before the event
Why is the youth room locked? What if I left something in there? - The youth room is locked unless there is an adult who is responsible for opening it for youth programs. This is because of past problems we have had with theft and damage of equipment. There are set times on Friday and Sunday that you can hang out in the youth room, at other times it will remain locked, sorry!
- Before we lock the youth room, we always clean it up and out. If you left a Bible or clothing there, it will be on a chair outside the door. If you left a valuable item (wallet, keys, cell phone, etc.) please talk to Tim or the adult in charge.
Can I put you down as a reference? - Please ask me before giving out any of my contact information
- Let me know what position you are applying for and why you want it
- It is recommended that you be regularly attending church for a reference to be effective
Can you fill out a recommendation for me? - Make your request and give me all information and materials at least 2 weeks before they are due
- If there are parts on forms that you are supposed to fill out, make sure you do fill them out (I don't know your social security number)
- If it needs to be mailed, you should also be giving me an addressed and stamped envelope
- For open ended recommendations (no forms), please suggest some topics/themes to focus on, or even write a mock draft for me to look over
Can you verify or sign for my community service/NHS/college applications/resumes/etc.? - It is your responsibility to keep track of dates of events and log the number of hours
- If you need a signature right away, you should find a way to come to me to get it
